Marketing Tips, Tricks, News and Reviews

    »

In recent years, the idea of working from home has become ever more appealing to those of us wishing to get out of the rat race, gain more quality time with our families and increase our disposable incomes.

Whether becoming an Avon representative, establishing a dog walking service or selling photography, there are a huge variety of options and each one has it’s own unique pros and cons. Some types of business can, for instance, require major capital investment, have higher overheads, issues with storage space or even see problem customers showing up on the doorstep!!

With the economy in it’s current state, there is no wonder that online business opportunities, such as internet marketing (IM), are gaining in popularity.  The running costs are comparatively cheap, there’s no need for huge initial investment or expensive equipment, you aren’t required to carry physical stock and all you really need to get going is a computer and an internet connection.

With such obvious advantages on our side, why then do we hear every day that over 97% of would-be online marketers are failing to achieve any success? You may well ask. In truth, there are a multitude of reasons but let’s look at some of the most common and see if any of them sound familiar to you.

  • Information overload; there’s just too much to take in and learn
  • It’s too technical; web site creation, using autoresponders, traffic exchanges, link cloaking, tracking etc
  • Too much choice; don’t know what kind of market to target, what method of marketing to use
  • Hot opportunity jumping; bouncing from one Big Thing to the next and from launch to launch
  • Limited budget; can’t afford all the programmes, ebooks, courses, upgrades, memberships
  • Jargon; marketing is a whole different language to get your head around
  • Distractions; email, TV, playing zombies on Facebook (you know you do it!), housework, kids

If any of these apply to you… join the group because you’re not alone. Working from home sounds easy in principle but in reality it brings with it a new set of problems. Luckily, there are some very simple ways of combating all of them and I’ll be covering these subjects in future posts as we journey through the wonderful maze of internet marketing.
