This week, in keeping with a Spring theme, Monique and I have chosen birds:
My photo is of a honeyeater in a neighbour’s cherry blossom tree. I think her nest must have been nearby, because she was a bit agitated, flitting back and forth, and keeping an eye on me as I took the photos.
Monique’s photo was taken a couple of years’ ago, and is of a young gull on Penguin Island, who appears to be looking over its shoulder at Monique.
Midweek Moment is a weekly photographic endeavour in which Monique Mulligan and I team up to share our favourite photos on our websites. It’s a way of stretching ourselves creatively and a nice distraction from writing. Click here for more of our Moments.
beautiful birds……I bought myself a camera at Christmas and take the odd pic but these are outstanding. What sort of lense do you use?
I’m so glad you like our photos, Joyce! I could get very addicted to photography (if I’m not already). I have a Nikon 105mm, which is great for Macro and portraits. I’m not sure what Monique uses, but whatever it is, it’s very good!
Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Penny! I’m glad you liked them. 🙂
Inspiring! Thank you both.
Thanks, Gulara. I’m glad you liked them! (What’s not to like about a couple of cute birds?!)
It’s lovely to see images of Spring as Autumn is closing in on us here – always enjoy your Midweek Moments 🙂 Hope the writing is going well xx
Yes, I was very envious of your photos over the past couple of months—now it’s time for revenge over our summer!
The writing is actually coming along well—I hope I haven’t jinxed it by saying that! I’ve sketched the story out to the end now, so I have a plan and know where I’m headed. The good thing is, most of the scenes are reincarnations of old scenes, so I just have to rejig them. I’ll have to write a few new ones, and bridge a few gaps, and rewrite the ending, because it’s very different to the previous one!
Oh wow – that is a huge rewrite, especially with a different ending! Do you feel now that it’s the story you always meant to tell? It’s good that you’re able to ‘re-incarnate’ a lot of scenes though. I’m finding that I added a couple of new threads into my first book which I’m now having to weave into the subsequent ones, so I’m constantly going back to make sure I haven’t missed one.I have fingers and toes crossed for you that you reach the end in good time and with a happy mind 🙂 xx
It’s been a huuuuuge rewrite, but I’m so pleased I’ve attempted it—I’ve learnt so much more from persisting with it, than if I’d given it up and started a new project. Believe me, though, I had a lot to learn!
I have been able to reincarnate a lot of scenes—I think I had the bones of my story, but I needed to dig a bit deeper and find what I was really trying to say in it. I could have chosen from a number of endings, but in the end, I’ve gone with the one that says something about what I believe. I won’t say anymore for the moment!
Good luck with your new book! I’m thrilled your Amazon promotion worked so well, and I hope it pays off in buckets for you!
PS. I’m sorry I didn’t respond sooner, Helen—I completely forgot. It’s been a busy week!
Wow, what a journey you’ve been on with your book, Louise – and it sounds as though it’s going to be amazing 🙂 I can’t wait to read it.
Oh, and never worry about responding – life is like that! I know I struggle to keep on top of blogs at times. I’m always happy to hear from you, whenever it is 🙂
Cherry blossom tress are so pretty. It’s way to hot here for them though. These posts you and Monique are doing are lovely Louise.
Maybe the heat is why they don’t seem to flourish here anywhere near as much as they do in Tasmania. You make the most of what you’ve got! x
