We had a taste of the summer at the weekend, with temperatures peaking in the thirties (degrees Celsius, that is). I took my photo at Swanbourne beach just before sunset. I thought it captured the warmth of the day, and gives us a promise of the summer days to come. I like, too, the line of light the sun makes on the ocean.
Monique’s photo is a playful one of her cat, who goes by various names including Boogle, Fattybum, and Kardashian. Monique was trying to make her bed and Fattybum was in the way. She looks as if she’s saying, ‘Please, just one more tumble on these covers!’.
Midweek Moment is a weekly photographic endeavour in which Monique Mulligan and I team up to share our favourite photos on our websites. It’s a way of stretching ourselves creatively and a nice distraction from writing. Click here for more of our Moments.
Charming
Thank you!
Beautiful
Thanks, Rae!
Two more lovely photos – and lucky you, with summer on the way 🙂
I soooo love our summers, for the warmth and the holidays!
Yes – I loved Aussie summers too, though February more than January. We lived in a high tourist area and the first three weeks of January were just unbearable – the traffic, the crowds – I couldn’t even get to the local supermarket. Still, it was the lifeblood that kept us going for the rest of the year, so was worth it. Autumn was my favourite time – sunny days and cool nights, the water still warm…
I can imagine January wouldn’t be the best time of year if you lived where everyone holidayed! Even if it was your lifeblood. Autumn is lovely, too, but I think growing up in Tasmania made me yearn for warm climates and a reliable summer!
I love midweek moment. Don’t stop doing it! The photograph of the ocean makes me want to go to the beach right this minute.
